The Artisan lives exactly to its name. Not something you’d expect to find around the area of Wiri for quick stop bites. The tables were painted in an electric blue and adorned with well loved vintage looking plates – something similar to the likes of cafes like Little & Friday.
Offerings are rich with wraps, soups, pastas, salads (not just the pitiful kind with salad leaves but with names like Sweet Thai Chicken Noodle salad..yum!), cakes and your normal brunch offerings on the blackboard.
Of course the most eye-catching element is the beautiful blackboard drawing with the quote “Happiness is Homemade”. Nothing will make you feel more welcome and at home.
We came for a quick lunch stop on a weekday and while buzzing, we managed to get a table at the cafe rush hour time of 12:30pm.
I don’t normally order smoothies but the combination in That Sh*t is Bananas with banana, peanut butter and almond milk really hit the spot. Deliciously moorish and not too thick like the trend of mega smoothies. The fish pie I had was simple but tasty. While topped with potato, there was still decent filling inside.
It was an unanimous consensus that we’d be back to try more of the menu. With a fun, slightly artsy and quirky atmosphere of the cafe, it only opens until 4pm though so a weekend brunch option could be better for those who live around the area.
